RAPID CITY, S.D. — Sheridan Lake Campground will be closing Dec. 1, 2022 for the off-season, but public day use access for ice fishing will remain open for portions of the area.

“The Forest Service is trying very diligently to accommodate ice fishing access on Sheridan Lake through Woodsy Loop in the campground, with limited parking available along the roads, to get fisherman closer to the lake for easier access with gear and equipment,” said Jim Gubbels, Mystic District Ranger.

The toilets closest to the lake will remain open throughout the winter.

The Sheridan Lake Day-Use Area (South Beach Access) will be closed for a construction project later in the winter, and vehicle access to the beach parking lot is not available, and the toilets at this day-use site are closed for the off-season.
