Here’s how you can get an almost new prom dress for cheap at the Optimist Club in Sturgis
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Optimist Club of Sturgis is hosting its annual prom dress consignment sale, offering a great opportunity for those who need one to find their perfect prom dress at a discounted price. This annual event provides a cost-effective way for local high school students to find their perfect prom dress while supporting a good cause in their community.
The sale, which runs through Saturday, allows shoppers to browse through a selection of dresses at a 75% discount from their retail price.
Proceeds from the sale go back to the Optimist Club of Sturgis, which uses the funds to support various kids’ programs in the community. According to Brenda Sabers, secretary of the Optimist Club of Sturgis, the sale not only benefits shoppers, but also gives back to the community.
“It’s a great opportunity for girls that maybe couldn’t afford to go buy a new dress or somebody looking for wanting to save a little money,” Sabers said. “And in the process, the Optimist Club adds a small fee onto their consignment cost, and then that money all goes back into our community. So it’s a win-win for everyone.”

The last day of the consignment sale is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sturgis Hometown Market, located at 1123 Main Street in Sturgis. Shoppers are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection.
