Here’s how people in Rapid City are bringing awareness and raising money for Alzheimer’s
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s took place on Saturday, September 24.
What is it?: The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is an event held to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and bring awareness to the disease. It also acts as a way to show people struggling with the disease and people caring for others with it that they aren’t alone. The event has been going on in South Dakota for about 20 years.
How does it help?: The walk is the largest fundraising event put on by the Alzheimer’s Association. It also raises awareness for a disease that can be very difficult to discuss for people that it has affected. The money raised allows the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support, advance research on prevention, treatment and, eventually, a cure.
How can I help?: The Alzheimer’s Association always welcomes donations. You can do so on their website. If you would like to participate in a walk near you, you can also find out more information about that on the site.
