Here is what a recent study found about driver safety in 2021

New research shows safe driving is going in reverse. AAA found unsafe driving behaviors, like speeding or driving while impaired, increased from 2020 to 2021.

The findings are a reversal from the previous three years where dangerous driving has declined. The survey showed a 9-percent increase in drivers who were so tired, they had trouble keeping their eyes open.

Also, the study showed a 24-percent increase in drivers drinking enough alcohol they thought they were over the legal limit, and a 14-percent increase in drivers consuming cannabis within an hour of getting behind the wheel.

In 2021, nearly 43,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes.
