Hazardous weather prompts no travel advisories
RAPID CITY, S.D. –
12:30 p.m. Update: No travel is still advised throughout Pennington County, outside of Rapid City. County officials continue to respond to numerous vehicles off the roads due to icy conditions.

9:00 a.m. Update: No travel is advised in Pennington County and along Interstate 90, several highways around the Rapid City area due to hazardous road conditions.
From Piedmont through Rapid City, to roughly six miles east of New Underwood, drivers are encountering scattered ice, making driving difficult.
Similar conditions exist on:
- Outside of Rapid City, throughout Pennington County
- SD-231 from Rapid City to Black Hawk
- HWY 44 from west Rapid City to nine miles west of Scenic
- Catron Blvd. in east Rapid City
- Mt. Rushmore Rd. through Rapid City to Catron Blvd.
Downtown Rapid City is not included in the ‘no travel advisory’.
Several reports of accidents continue to be reported by law enforcement. Westbound I-90 in Box Elder was temporarily closed Friday morning due to an accident.
