Harley-Davidson preps for Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The 81st Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicks off Aug. 1, and preparations are underway throughout the Hills.
At Black Hills Harley-Davidson, the giant tent where they’ll have hundreds of used bikes on display is going up — and they’re getting ready for the scores of vendors who are on their way.
Co-owner Al Rieman says he thinks this will be a really big year.
“It looks to be very robust,” said Al Rieman, Co-owner, Black Hills Harley-Davidson. “It’s not a gated event, you don’t sell tickets or make reservations ahead of time to be on our lot, so we don’t know exactly. We just kind of guess. But my feel after doing this a long time is that this is going to be one of the biggest rallies ever.”
Rieman says they’re expecting upwards of 130 vendors for rally week, offering everything from motorcycle clothing and accessories to services like financing and insurance.
