Hardware Hank opening Pine Ridge location

PINE RIDGE, S.D. – Buche Foods, Pine Ridge’s only Native American-owned grocery store announced Wednesday that Hardware Hank will be a part of their upcoming grocery store.

The store is slated to open in early 2019, a community necessity after the closing of Sioux Nation, the only grocery store in Pine Ridge in February 2018 due to violations of health codes. Since the closing of Sioux Nation, Buche Foods has provided bussing for residents to the nearby town of Martin to do their grocery shopping. Buche Foods vowed to continue the bussing schedules until renovations of their new grocery and hardware store are complete.

“One of the biggest questions we kept getting from the community was ‘What are you going to do about hardware?’” said RF Buche, President of GF Buche Company. “We’ve crossed the country seeking out the best fit for products and the best fit for the community. Hardware Hank is both. Tony and the rest of the hardware team do a great job and we know everyone is going to be really pleased with the changes.”

The store plans to increase home, hardware and paint selections, sporting goods, and farm and ranch products. Hardware Hank is working with Buche to customize its merchandise to match the needs of Pine Ridge. Customers can plan on brands like Stanley, Weber, Traeger, Ring, Century Tools and more.

Buche adds, “They [Hardware Hank] understand rural America. We chose Hardware Hank because of their great assortment and because they’ve always been community focused.”

The new store is also committing to offering two cash registers dedicated to the hardware section of the store to help serve customers quickly.
