Hardrockers upset bid falls short against Colorado Mesa

RAPID CITY, S.D. -South Dakota Mines wrapped up the college football season on Saturday looking for their third straight win.

Unfortunately, the Hardrockers lost to Colorado Mesa by a score of 13-10.

SD Mines trailed 10-3 at halftime.

But the Hardrockers would tie it up in the third quarter with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Johannsen to Josh Leone.

The point after was good to make the score 10-10.

Late in the fourth quarter, Mavericks kicker Lucas Ruiz Diaz connected on a 25-yard field goal with 2:46 remaining and that proved to be the difference in the game.

The Hardrockers finish the regular season with a 6-5 record, their first winning season since 2015.

The Hardrockers were 4-5 in the conference.
