Guttierez appointed to national board for American Corrections Association

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A national appointment for the man who oversees the Western South Dakota Juvenile Services Center.

Commander Joe Guttierez has been appointed to a three-year term on the American Corrections Association.

Board members can either be elected or appointed, Commander Guttierez was appointed by members of the A.C.A.

He says being on the board will give him a chance to help implement practices and policies they use in Rapid City at other centers across the country.

JSC Commander, Joe Guttierez said “Having a seat at the table is pretty exciting that I have an opportunity to facilitate change throughout the country and by using some of the things we do at our facility and to share that knowledge. From our staff and our administration is really going to help other people around the country to better their facilities as well.”

Commander Guttierez will join 18 other board members in representing Juvenile Corrections Facilities across the country.
