Guns N’ Hoses trophy goes to police department
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Police Department is this year’s victor in the annual Guns N’ Hoses blood drive.
The police and fire departments have been competing against each other at the Rushmore Mall since Tuesday, bringing donors in for Vitalant’s biggest blood drive of the year.
This year 830 people donated blood at the annual blood drive. With 454 donating in the police department’s name, RCPD will be holding on to the trophy until next year’s blood drive.
RCPD’s Brendyn Medina said, “It does give us a chance to rub shoulders with our counterparts at the fire department and ripping each other a little bit. In the end its all about getting the community out and helping the local blood supply.”
The Guns N’ Hoses blood drive has been going on for 14 years now, and the two departments are tied at seven victories each.
