Groundbreaking ceremony for the First Nations Sculpture Project

A new site in Downtown Rapid City has been preserved for a project two years in the making.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the First Nations Sculpture Project took place Thursday morning inside Halley Park, where four notable Sioux Indians of the 20^th century are set to be made into bronze busts.

The project will honor educators, artists, philosophers and doctors of the indigenous people of South Dakota.
