Gov. Noem to announce new bill geared toward agriculture

PIERRE, S.D. — Gov. Noem teased a bill Thursday that she says will expand opportunities in agriculture in the state.

Gov. Noem said she would “unveil” the legislation at the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City on Friday, but didn’t go into details during her weekly press conference.

She hopes the bill will streamline Ag ventures.

“Create some integrity and some processes and time frames for developing Ag projects throughout the state,” said Gov. Noem.

She also said the signing of the new North American Trade Agreement should boost South Dakota’s agricultural exports.

The State’s agricultural economy has suffered due to extreme weather and international trade disruptions.
