Gov. Noem pushes emergency bills for funding in the fight against COVID-19

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Gov. Noem says she will pitch a series of emergency bills to lawmakers, they address what she believes will be a months-long fight against the coronavirus.

Noem breaking from a rosy outlook from President Donald Trump that American life would be restored by Easter. Noem will ask lawmakers to allow her to adjust the state budget and reallocate funds to battle COVID-19. Noem says she’ll also ask for certain emergency powers.

Lawmakers could act on her proposals on Monday.
