Gov. Noem, legislative leaders to hold press conference Friday

PIERRE, S.D. — It’s been a busy week in Pierre for lawmakers who had plenty of legislation to debate. Gov. Kristi Noem will be holding a press conference at noon today to recap some of the events of the past few days.

Noem signed a number of bills into law on Tuesday, including a bill that streamlines solar and wind development on state-owned land. She also vetoed a different bill that would have increased regulation of solar energy facilities by the Public Utilities Commission.

Republican and Democratic legislative leaders are also holding press conferences this morning, and will likely discuss some of the legislation that came up over the week, including bills regarding education, lobbying, sports betting, texting and driving and reporting births and deaths in the state.
