Goodwill in Rapid City evacuated following trash compactor fire

UPDATE: 3:20 p.m. — Crews are loading up and preparing to leave the scene.

The store has been reopened for normal business.

It’s not yet known what caused the fire and the incident is under investigation.


 

UPDATE: 2:56 p.m. — The RCFD reports that the fire is out and crews are working to mop up hotspots.


 

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Goodwill located on Lindbergh Avenue in Rapid City has been evacuated following a fire in a trash compactor.

The Rapid City Fire Department says there is no fire extension into the building and that crews are working to extinguish the flames.
