Goodbye, 2020! Rapid City citizens are looking forward to the new year

RAPID CITY, S.D. — 2020 has been a year of ups and downs, but one thing is for sure – no one will be sad to see it go. A year filled with a pandemic and a divided country in an election year is enough to stress anyone out.

2021 may be the most anticipated year in recent history due to the fact that people just want to see 2020 finally come to end. Although some are unsure of what the new year will bring, and fear ’21 will be similar to this year.

Pauline Stoffel, a Rapid City resident, said, “Little weary about what its gonna be like…keep praying daily for a better nation…just everything to be better.”

While its been tough to remain optimistic, some people made the most of a rapidly changing year, and are hopeful for what the future brings.

One Rapid City family said, “We got to really enjoy our family this year; we slowed down and we spent time together.”

Michael Rose of Rapid City also said, “Pretty decent with the ups and downs its had throughout the year, but its been pretty good to me. Really see how things turn out and how much we can reopen, get the economy back up and going.”

The pandemic this year has brought on many new rules and regulations that businesses are following to stop the spread of the virus.

Going into the new year, one member of the community is hoping we can find a solution to the pandemic.

Pauline said, “More people getting well and not so much COVID.”
