Girls high school tennis season kicks off with West River Invitational

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The girls high school tennis season kicked off on Friday with one big change this year.

For the first time ever, high school tennis in South Dakota has been divided into two classes, ‘AA’ and ‘A’.

That means the state will crown two champions in October.

But in the meantime, tennis teams from across the state gathered in Rapid City on Friday for the start of the West River Invitational.

The West River Invitational wraps up on Saturday with five more matches starting at 9 a.m.
