Sioux Falls girl rides to school in style for the ‘Paint the Plows’ event

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A Sioux Falls girl “plowed” her way to school today in a special kind of ride.

Libby Maturan rode to her elementary school in a snow plow, courtesy of the city’s ‘Paint the Plows’ event.

This is part of a special program that lets students paint the city snow plows for use during the winter.

This year, 21 plows were painted.

The program has been going on for nine years, but officials wanted to make the 10th year extra special, adding the ride to school.

“I can even remember when she put her name into the drawing at the Empire Mall when we did the actual event, and she was super excited, her mom was super excited, so this is pretty cool,” said Street Operations Manager, Dustin Hansen.

It’s a tradition for the city that is sure to be in place for years to come.
