Get Your Boots Ready for the National Finals Rodeo Send Off Party

Vegas Awaits is this year’s National Finals Rodeo (NFR) slogan. Held December 5-14, the NFR is considered the Super Bowl of rodeo and determines the world champions in seven main events. That includes calf roping, bull riding and team roping. The event has been held annually by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association since 1959 and brings more than 170,000 fans from around the world. In anticipation, the Black Hills Roundup will be holding a Last Stop to Las Vegas Party Saturday 23rd at 6 p.m at the Black Hills premier wedding venue, Besler’s Cadillac Ranch.

The send-off party will include a meet and greet with local rodeo contestants who will compete in Vegas, great music by Whiskey Bent, an open bar, and of course dancing. There will also be a chance to win NFR tickets, with room and airfare to Las Vegas, and if that wasn’t enough, the event is also free and open to the public.

Tickets to the 2020 Black Hills Roundup will be up for the taking as well. The roundup is one of the oldest continuously held outdoor rodeos in America, and is usually held around the July 4th holiday weekend. It brings thousands from across the country and abroad to Belle Fourche to celebrate, and will be a wonderful opportunity to see a real western rodeo.

The weekend will hold the warmest temperatures of the week with highs in the mid 50s and lows in the 30s. Conditions will remain dry for most of the weekend, but rain/snow is expected to move into the Black Hills and Northern Plains Sunday evening. Travel should not be affected this weekend, just be aware of strong winds on the road…a light coat wouldn’t hurt either. Other than gusting winds, it looks to be a mostly beautiful weekend. Enjoy it folks!
