Gap store set to close in Rapid City

"ALL STOCK REDUCED" before the big shutdown

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A clothing outlet is going the way of Sears, Herberger’s and Toys “R” Us: it’s closing for good.

The Gap Factory Store located on Eglin Street at Rushmore Crossing is expected to be shuttered early in 2019.

The company recently announced that it would be closing around 200 under-performing stores as sales continued to drop.

The store is discounting all of its inventory in the meantime. Storefront signs show they are offering sales up to 50% off on all of their items, as well as reading “THIS STORE IS CLOSING.”

The company says it still has about 700 Gap-branded stores globally, in addition to Old Navy and Banana Republic stores.

While Gap sales have fallen, those at the other stores have gone up.

Old Navy and Banana Republic have yet to announce if they will take over the Gap location in Rapid City.
