Four displaced after Pine Ridge house fire

PINE RIDGE, S.D. – Two children and two adults are without a home after a house fire Friday night.

According to the Martin Volunteer Fire Department on Twitter, a structure fire broke out at a mobile home in Pine Ridge before 4 p.m. People in the home were able to escape.

Fire crews had difficulty accessing the fire because a live power line had fallen on a metal fence and could have posed a risk to first responders.

The American Red Cross is now assisting the displaced residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs Fire, and the OST Department of Public Safety all responded to the call.
