UPDATE: Founders Park fireworks show planned to start at 9:30 p.m.

UPDATE: The Rapid City Fire Department says that the forecast looks clear tonight and it’s not anticipated that the Founders Park fireworks will need to start early.

They say the show is planned to begin at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

UPDATE: Officials say the Founders Park fireworks show is still planned for this evening, beginning between 8:45 p.m and 9:30 p.m.

According to the RCFD, the severe weather is passing and most likely won’t cause another postponement. They say the start time will be narrowed down as the evening progresses.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Officials say the fireworks show that was postponed last night due to severe weather is scheduled for tonight around 9:30 pm.

While the city fireworks show is slated for the 9:30 p.m. time frame this evening, because of the threat of more severe weather, the show may proceed as early as 8:45 to beat the storms.

Officials will be closely watching the radar and forecasts to see what adjustments need to be made. According to forecasts, it’s possible that storms may push through earlier and clear out to allow the show to proceed as scheduled.
