Former school principal pleads not guilty to aggravated assault

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The former principal at Meadowbrook Elementary pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault on Friday.

Daniel Janklow,49, was arrested on February 16th. Janklow’s accused of displayed a gun in a threatening manner toward a Meadowbrook colleague at his home. 

Janklow is demanding a jury trial and could get up to 15-years in prison if convicted.

His attorney, Dana Hanna, released a statement to NewsCenter1 questioning the credibility of Janklow’s accuser. Hanna states that public record indicates his accuser may have lied to law enforcement several times in the past.
