Former President Trump criticizes Sen. Rounds over election statements

WASHINGTON — Senator Mike Rounds has drawn criticism from former President Donald Trump after Rounds described the 2020 election as fair on national television Sunday.

The second-term senator and former South Dakota governor had said during an interview on ABC’s “This Week” that the 2020 election was fair. Former President Trump, who continues to insist that the 2020 election was stolen from him, described Rounds as going “woke on the Fraudulent Presidential Election of 2020” in a statement posted on his website Monday.

“The only reason he did this is because he got my endorsement and easily won his state in 2020, so now he thinks he has time,” Trump’s statement read in part “Even though his election will not be coming up for 5 years, I will never endorse this jerk again.”

Sen. Rounds also said on Sunday he would support Trump if he ran again in 2024.
