Former IHS doctor receives multiple life sentences

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Dr. Stanly Weber received multiple life sentences for his eight counts of sexual abuse at his sentencing on Monday.

Weber was sentenced to life in prison for each of the five aggravated counts of sexual abuse and an additional 15 years on each of the three non-aggravated counts.

Weber was found guilty back in September of eight counts of sexual abuse of boys on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation that occurred between 1994 and 2011. According to U.S. Attorney Erick Kelderman, the poor conditions and financial struggles on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation left Weber’s victims in vulnerable positions. As a pediatrician at the IHS Hospital in Pine Ridge, Weber was able to take advantage of the boys in his care.
