Foothills Area Election Forum

PIEDMONT, S.D. – The Foothills Area Election Forum is to be held Sunday, Oct. 21 from 1:30-5 p.m at Piedmont Valley American Legion Post 311 in Piedmont.

Candidates running for the South Dakota Legislature’s Districts 29 and 33 will be in attendance.

They will make opening statements followed by a question and answer session with the public, moderated by Bob Burns, and ending with closing statements.

The Candidate Forum for Legislative District 33 will go from 1:30-3:05 p.m. Senate candidates Phil Jensen and Ryan Ryder are expected to attend. House candidates Taffy Howard, Lilias Jarding, Dave Johnson and Nick Reid are expected to attend as well.

Following the Legislative District 33 forum will be a 25 minute break for the candidates and public to mingle and meet one-on-one.

And finally, the Candidate Forum for Legislative District 29 will go from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Senate candidates Garry Cammack and Matt Kammerer are expected to attend. Also expected to attend are House candidates Jade Addison, Tom Brunner, Kirk Chaffee and Mike McManus.

Come join us learn about candidates and meet some of your neighbors. Once elected the candidates will represent the towns of Southern Meade County: Black Hawk, Summerset, Piedmont and Box Elder, as well as other parts of Pennington, Meade and Butte Counties.


 The Post is located at 101 Pine Street and is at the intersection of Pine and Sturgis Road (North First St). It is on the southeast side of the town of Piedmont. You travel about a half mile northwest of exit 46 (Elk Creek Rd Exit) on Sturgis Rd.
