Food and supply drive for shelter dogs and cats

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Every year since it opened the Battle Mountain Humane Society has held a supply drive for homeless animals.

Each year they table in front of Sam’s Club, encouraging customers to donate supplies, chow, and treats for dogs and cats at the shelter. Many donors gave food, bath pads, sanitary supplies, and monetary donations.

Battle Mountain runs solely on donations, so every bit of help counts. Being that they are a no-kill shelter with lots of land, they tend to take in more animals than your average shelter.

“We also supply vet care for other people, food for other people and their dogs, and try to help them keep their animals. We just consider ourselves a special kind of humane society because of what we do,” said Tonia Wagoner, the president.

Battle Mountain Humane Society is located in Hot Springs and they also accept donations via their website.
