Flash flooding around the region leading to road closures
PORCUPINE, S.D. — Video courtesy of Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management shows a flooded road between Sharps Corner and Porcupine. The road was closed, but officials say the road from Manderson to Sharps Corner is open.
SHARPS CORNER S.D. – Heavy rains are leading to flash flooding and road closures around the region.
According to Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management, part of BIA 27 has been closed to severe weather and flash flooding.
“BIA 27 Evergreen to Gooseneck closed due to flooding over the road,” the department said on Facebook. “Be safe do not try to cross road ways with water running over.”
Additionally the Rapid City Fire Department has been called out for a swift water rescue.
RC/PC Water Rescue has been requested for swiftwater rescue in the Pine Ridge and Oglala Lakota County area. No other information is available at this time. We’ll provide updates as we have them.
