Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Former Legislator Wendell Hanson

PIERRE, S.D. — On Wednesday, Governor Kristi Noem ordered flags be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise to sunset on Friday, July 30 in honor of former State Senator Wendell Hanson.

Hanson was born in Sioux Falls on Aug. 4, 1919 and served as State Senator from 1977 to 1978 and from 1981 to 1982. He passed away on June 15, 2021. He was 101 years old.

Funeral services for Hanson will be held on Friday, July 30, in Sioux Falls.
