First Assembly of God hosts annual fundraising event

RAPID CITY, S.D. — There was another kind of bike ride today in the Black Hills.

First Assembly of God hosted their annual On Wheels Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge Fundraiser.

For about a week, kids took pledges for laps or miles on church ground.

The purpose? To raise money for the non-profit’s missions project, and helping to meet needs around the world such as feeding programs and water wells.

“Kids are riding around in circles in the parking lot here with bicycles and somebody was on roller blades,” said Dennis Daywitt, Children Pastor at First Assembly of God. “We got some scooters and skateboards and each year we do this event to raise money to help boys and girls around the world through our missionaries. They provide food and clothing, education.”

It’s the third event for On Wheels BGMC with much of the church’s agenda thwarted in the beginning of the year due to the pandemic.

For some, getting a sponsor was all in the family.

“My grandma is sponsoring me today. She’s gonna pay 10 cents for every lap up to five dollars,” said Christian Kraemer, First Assembly of God.

The yearly event helps teach children about missions giving.

Bible Ninja Warrior is their next big event, a one-day outside obstacle course consisting of nine physical challenges.
