Firecracker Tournament: RC Post 22, Eden Prairie declared co-champs
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 and Eden Prairie, Minnesota were declared co-champions of the Firecracker Baseball Tournament on Thursday after rain washed out the championship game.
Light rain started to fall as the title game kicked off shortly after 7 p.m.
The game was scoreless after the first inning. But Eden Prairie grabbed the lead in the top of the second inning thanks to a two-run homer by Joey Danielson.
However, the game was stopped after that because of the weather and Post 22 and Eden Prairie were declared co-champions.
Post 22 – 4, Eden Prairie 2
Earlier in the day, Post 22 defeated Eden Prairie, 4-2 to qualify for the championship game.
Eden Prairie got on the scoreboard in the first inning. Luke Anderson’s sacrifice fly scored one run for the team from Minnesota.
But the Hardhats answered in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer by Matthew Hegre.
Isaac Arnold earn the victory for the Hardhats. He worked four innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two.
