Structure fire on Country Road, no injuries reported

RAPID CITY, S.D. — At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, the Rapid City Fire Department received a call about a structure fire on Country Road. As of 7:45 p.m., the progress of the fire has been stopped.

Dennis Gorton, firefighter for the PIO North Haines Volunteer Fire Dept. says the call was made by someone in the home, but they aren’t sure who made the call.

The family of the home wasn’t hurt, and no pets were believed to have been inside.

It is reported that the garage is a total loss, heavy smoke throughout the home, and firefighters are checking for further damage on the rest of the property.

The Red Cross is on the way to check on the family.

Rapid City Fire Dept. Engine 7 was first on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
