Fire in Downtown Wall: Cactus Cafe and Lounge engulfed in flames

Fire departments from across Pennington County have arrived on scene and are actively battling to keep other structures from being consumed by the fire.

WALL, S.D. – Firefighters are working to contain a fire in downtown Wall. The Cactus Cafe and Lounge is pictured without any walls or visible structures left behind.

As of midnight, firefighters tell NewsCenter1 that the forward progress of the fire along Main Street has been stopped but not before spreading into the business and attached residence.

Multiple departments responded to the restaurant located at 519 Main Street just before 9 p.m. Monday. Officials ask that bystanders give firefighters room to work as they fight to prevent other structures from catching fire. Officials will be on the scene over the course of the coming days to ensure all hot spots have been addressed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

No injuries were reported. The Black Hills Fire Chaplains Association is assisting the occupants.

Departments responding include the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Rapid City Fire Department, Ellsworth Fire Department, and volunteer fire departments from Wall, Kadoka, Whispering Pines, Cascade, Piedmont, Doty, Fairburn, New Underwood, Wasta, Quinn, North Haines, Box Elder, Black Hawk, Rapid Valley, and Custer.
