Fatal Lead house fire victims were mother and adult son

LEAD, S.D. – The latest on a house fire on Parkdale Street in Lead.

Authorities have released the names of two people killed in a Lead house fire.
The bodies of the victims were found upstairs in a home they shared at 10 Parkdale Street. Their identities have been confirmed as 85-year-old Delores Butcher and her son, 62-year-old Keith Butcher.
According to the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, the cause of death was smoke inhalation.
The Lead Police Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing to investigate to determine the origin and matter of the fire.

A house fire in Lead has taken the lives of two people.
According to the Pennington County Fire Service, those who perished were civilians. No injuries to firefighters or domestic animals were reported.
When firefighters first arrived at the home early Saturday morning, they found flames and heavy smoke conditions in the top floor, attic and roof assembly with partial roof collapse.
Firefighters stopping the spread of the flames to nearby structures, in addition to preventing a grass fire.
The Lead Police Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing to investigate to determine the origin and matter of the fire.

Fire crews respond to house fire in Lead
Oct. 6
Fire crews battled a house fire on Parkdale Street in Lead Saturday morning.
According to the Pennington County Fire Service’s Facebook page, the Lead Fire Department, Deadwood Fire Department, Whitewood Fire Department and Spearfish Fire Department all responded to the call.
It’s unclear how the fire broke out or if there were any injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
