Feeding South Dakota the recipient of a bountiful donation for ending hunger across the state

Feeding South DakotaSPEARFISH, S.D.— Feeding South Dakota received a $25,000 gift from First Interstate Bank and the First Interstate BancSystem Foundation for their first-ever “Believe in Local” grant campaign, which will be used to end hunger across the entire state.

40 non-profits across the bank’s 14-state reach will receive the gift as well to support their various causes. Feeding South Dakota was nominated by First Interstate Bank employees and chosen over 400 other organizations.

“We are incredibly appreciative of First Interstate’s generosity and support,” said Lori Dykstra, Chief Executive Officer of Feeding South Dakota. “This donation helps us to further our mission of ending hunger in South Dakota. We’re thankful to have dedicated partners like First Interstate helping us to strengthen Spearfish.”

Among their campaigns like Believe in Local, First Interstate Bank makes annual donations and gives grants of 2% of its pre-tax earnings to local communities. These funds help to improve workforce development, bolster early childhood education, mitigate poverty, and support non-profit organizations like Feeding South Dakota.

Feeding South Dakota is the largest charitable organization in the state dedicated to hunger relief efforts. During 2021, the organization distributed close to 18,000,000 pounds of food to more than 8,000,000 people in the state struggling with food insecurity. Distribution centers can be found in Sioux Falls, Pierre, and Rapid City.
