Fatal rollover near Sundance

SUNDANCE, Wyo. — A fatal rollover crash occurred on Interstate 90 near Sundance Thursday afternoon.

At about 3 p.m. Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to mile marker 201 east of Sundance for a one-vehicle rollover.

For unknown reasons that afternoon, a 1995 Ford Ranger travelling east exited the left side of the road before it was over-corrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver was not wearing his seat belt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

The driver has been identified as Thomas Pickerd, 60, of Sundance.

Driver fatigue or inattention is being investigated as possible contributing factors.

This is the 124th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 88 in 2018, 109 in 2017, and 94 in 2016 to date.
