Fatal one-vehicle crash near Parkston

PARKSTON, S.D. — One person died early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash west of Parkston.

Just before 4 a.m. Sunday a 2010 Acura was travelling west on Highway 44 when the driver lost control on the icy road. The vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled.

The 30-year-old female driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene — she was the only person in the vehicle.

The name of the woman is not being released pending notification of family members.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
