Fatal motorcycle-vehicle crash in Fall River County

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. — One person died late Friday night in a motorcycle-vehicle crash that occurred about two miles north of Hot Springs.

Names of the individuals are not being released at this time, pending proper notification of family.

Around 10:40 p.m. on Friday, July 3, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 385 when it collided with a 2016 Harley Davidson FLHXS motorcycle that was heading southbound, but was in the northbound lane.

The 37-year-old male driver of the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The 29-year-old male driver of the Grand Prix suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a Rapid City hospital via ambulance. Three juvenile passengers of the Grand Prix each suffered minor injures. All four vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
