Fatal crash in Corson County

McLaughlin, S.D. — One person died Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash four miles south of McLaughlin in Corson County.

The crash occurred on Highway 63 at mile marker 247 just after 8:30. A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was southbound on South Dakota Highway 63 when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled.

The 35-year-old driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the individual is not being released at this time.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. All information is preliminary at this point.
