Fall River Health Services Scholarships

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. — On Monday, Fall River Health Services announced that their board of directors awarded five scholarships to their current staff.

The five recipients who received scholarships through the State of South Dakota, “Build Dakota Scholarship” program in either the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse programs are:

  • Tonya Bloom, LPN
  • Johanna Corriea, C.N.A
  • Seth Simunek, C.N.A
  • Amber Dennett, C.N.A
  • Josh Williamson, C.N.A (Not pictured in photo)

FRHS says that the programs that the scholarship program supports lead careers that offer fulfilling responsibilities and exciting opportunities. For Licensed Practical Nurse Tonya Bloom, she will soon start her Registered Nurse degree program at Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City.

“This award is very beneficial in helping me achieve my goal and dream of becoming an RN,” Bloom said. “I have been employed at FRHS for eighteen and a half years, starting out as a CNA and moved up to an LPN. I no longer want to be limited in my field of nursing. I want to give back to the facility and community.”

The program pays for a two-year technical degree in nursing while the recipient continues their work at the FRHS facility in South Dakota. The recipients then go on to work for a minimum of three years full-time at FRHS after graduation.
