Faith Temple Church celebrates Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — One of America’s greatest civil rights activists was honored on Monday at a church service, put on by Faith Temple Church.
A crowd gathered at the Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The iconic activist is best known for his “I had a dream speech,” his peaceful protesting, and his faith. He often preached about the power of love and treating all men and women equally. Led by faith, he was fearless in pursuit of justice and racial equality. Many times, risking his life to stand-up for others.
“It’s inclusive of everybody and because of God’s message for love and because of Dr. King’s relationship with Jesus and his love for God. It allowed him to then show and spread that love to everybody,” says Bishop Troy Carr.
Men, women, and children of all backgrounds joined the service and the main message was this: We’re all unique in our own ways, but we’re all human, deserving of equal respect, kindness, and grace.
It started with one man, one dream, and a whole lot of courage. So, remember it takes one person to lead a movement; one person can change the world.
