Ever wanted to blow something up? Here’s your chance in Custer

CUSTER, S.D. —Have you ever wanted to blow something up? Literally?

Img 8415Well here’s your chance.

The current owners of the old Star Academy outside Custer need to knock down three buildings, AND  they’re auctioning off the opportunity to push the plunger that will set off the implosion.

Mark and Kim Neilsen are converting the former youth detention facility into a housing development.

They’re holding the auction as a fundraiser for three Custer-area organizations: “Friends Of Custer County Search And Rescue,” “Operation Black Hills Cabin,”  and “Southern Black Hills Realtors For Kids.”

Bradeen Real Estate and Auctions is handling the auction. The online bidding ends this coming Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Information about submitting a bid and paying if you’re the successful bidder is on their website.

Winners will be notified after the auction has ended with the actual implosion happening soon afterwards.
