Ellsworth B1B Lancers train over Black Sea with Ukrainian Air Force

RAPID CITY, S.D. — B1-B Lancers from Ellsworth Air Force Base flew the Black Sea in a training mission with the Ukrainian Air Force.

It’s the first-ever joint flight of American heavy bombers with Ukrainian aircraft took place, and is part of a training mission throughout Europe and the Black Sea region. The B-1B Lancers from Ellsworth served as escorts.

The U.S. Air Force says the bomber’s task also included integration with Polish, Romanian and Turkish aircrafts.
