Ellsworth Air Force Base to hold active shooter exercise

ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. — An active shooter exercise will be conducting at Ellsworth Air Force base starting Monday, July 27.

The exercise is being implemented to test the ability of the 28th Bomb Wing to respond to an active shooter situation and will end on July 31.

During the exercise, residents in the area may hear announcements over the “giant voice” system and sirens while also seeing response vehicles. Motorists may experience delays entering and exit the installation during the exercise.

Those arriving for appointments are encouraged to arrive early and call in advance to ensure that appointments and services are not impacted.
