Elizabeth Smart set to share her story at local charity event
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The abduction of Elizabeth Smart first gained national attention in 2002 when at the age of 14 she was abducted from her home and held captive for nine months. Smart has become an advocate for child safety, recovery programs and change to National legislation. It is her work in advocacy that brings her to Rapid City on Sept. 20 to speak at a charity event for Abbot House, an area non-profit that provides residential treatment, foster care and independent living programs for children and young adults ages 7 to 23.
The event will be held at the Best Western Ramkota on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. more information is available at abbothouse.org
