RAPID CITY, S.D. — An electronics disposal event in Rapid City that was taking place this weekend has been rescheduled due to upcoming weather.

4 22 Electronics Disposal Vo00 00 22 09still002EchoWorks’ second annual free community collection event was scheduled to take place Saturday at the farmer’s market in Rapid City. However, with the forecasted weather organizers decided to reschedule the event to Tuesday the 26th.

The event is part of the EchoWorks celebration of Earth Day. The business, a part of the Black Hills Works family, provides employment opportunities to people with disabilities by providing a service that keeps dangerous substances contained in electronics from going to the landfill. EchoWorks also provides hard drive shredding which helps protect your privacy.

Randy Sheppard EchoWorks Supervisor says, “Once we shred that hard drive no one’s going to receive any information or be able to get any of the information off of that. Whether it’s a social security number, a bank account number any of that information.”

You can drop off your old tv, computer, or other electronics at EchoWorks location on the east side of the Western Dakota Tech campus on Tuesday from 8 AM to 12 PM.
