EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. — A 27-year-old Eagle Butte man has been sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to assaulting his intimate partner.

Seth Stadel – also known as Seth Carter – was indicted by Grand Jury last August after assaulting his partner in early June 2020 near Lantry, South Dakota.

Stadel pleaded guilty to the assault, in which he grabbed his partner by the throat and strangled her until she began to lose consciousness. When she attempted to run away, Stadel tackled her and broke her arm.
