Dusty Johnson gets backlash during Town Hall Call

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Congressman Dusty Johnson received some backlash from constituents during a telephone tall hall on Thursday.

Some South Dakotans attacked Johnson for not doing more during the electoral vote certification and criticized him for not contesting the results and pushing for further investigation into the election.

Johnson quickly rebutted that the Constitution is very clear about what he can or cannot do.

“Here’s what the Constitution tells me I was to do yesterday. ‘The president of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and the House, open the certificates and the votes shall then be counted.’ Do you think that that sentence means that I am suppose to witness a ceremonial act or do you think the Founders intended that sentence to create a super court, able to overturn all of the decisions of the Courts and the States with which the house disagreed?” said Johnson.

Johnson also asked South Dakota residents to come together, adding that “there’s no chance” of a second term for President Trump.
