Driver collides with building following pursuit in stolen vehicle

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended Monday morning after the driver hit a building in the area of W. Main Street and Ninth Street.

According to South Dakota Highway Patrol Spokesman Tony Mangan, around 6:17 a.m., a Meade County Sheriff’s Deputy requested assistance from the South Dakota Highway Patrol in a pursuit of a stolen white Ford F-350 pickup near mile marker 47 on Interstate 90.

The pursuit continued south on Sturgis Road, going in to Rapid City. During the pursuit, the vehicle sideswiped another vehicle in Rapid City while weaving in and out of traffic.

The pursuit was terminated in the area of W. Main Street and Ninth Street when the vehicle collided with a building. The driver then fled the scene.

There is no suspect or description of the driver at this time.

The Rapid City Police Department and Meade County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the pursuit.
