Downtown railroad crossing to close next week

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Commuters through a part of downtown Rapid City will face a minor detour next week.

Seventh Street at the railroad crossing near Apolda Street will close Tuesday.

Seventh Street at Apolda Street will close on Tuesday, Oct. 23 for work on the adjacent railroad crossing.

The work will consist of adjustments and other various repair work.

Travelers who normally use Seventh Street should expect to follow detours. Northbound traffic will take Main Street to Mount Rushmore Road, then to Omaha Street. Southbound traffic will take Apolda Street to Sixth Street, to Main Street.

Work on the crossing is expected to be completed on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
